Bulletin # 1

Dear AASCA members:

 

          On behalf of the Marian Baker School community, it is our privilege to send the first bulletin to those schools interested in participating in the AASCA Small School Basketball Tournament at Marian Baker School, in San Jose, Costa Rica, from October 21 to 25th, 2009. We are looking forward to have your teams enriching our tournament.

 

            There are several things to keep into consideration:

 

  • The last day to confirm your participation is September 10, 2009, sending to us the enclosed form.
  • There is a $400 per team to cover the tournament expenses.
  • Each team is 10 players maximum.
  • Hotel:

 

    • The hotel selected for this event is Hotel Casa Conde, located in the south side of San Jose. 
    • Its webpage is www.grupocasaconde.com and the person you need to contact to arrange your lodging is Jorge Zúñiga Mora, at jzuniga@gruocasaconde.com or (506) 2227-4232.
    • Breakfast is included in the lodging.
    • Transportation from the airport to the hotel and hotel to the airport is provided by the hotel in an itinerary that is maintained by Casa Conde.  Each team has to arrange this with the hotel.
    • Price by night offered, is
      •  Single suite, $80 + 13% tax ($ 361.60 per person for four nights)
      • Double suite, $ 89 + 13%tax  ($ 201.14 per person for four nights)
      • Triple suite, $99 + 13% tax ($ 149.16 per person for four nights)
    •  The hotel provides medical and ambulance services 24 hours a day, wireless internet and the use of pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and gym facilities.
    • The Technical Meeting and icebreaking activities will take place at Casa Conde on Wednesday October 21, at 7 pm.

 

  • Team lists and flight information no later than September 18, 2009.
  • The airport exit tax from Costa Rica is $26
  • Lunch will be provided by our school at a cost that will be communicated in future bulletins.
  • There will be games at MBS and also at Country Day School, in Escazú, on the west side of San José.

Preliminary Schedule:

  • Wednesday – Travel Day.  Icebreaking Activity and Technical meeting at Hotel Casa Conde , 7 pm.
  • Thursday – Opening Ceremony at MBS, and the games will begin.  Teams playing at CDS leave.  Once the schools participating confirm, the schedule will be made.
  • Friday – Games all day.
  • Saturday – Finals and Closing Ceremony.
  • Sunday – Travel Day.  Teams return home!
