The two divisions will be named the Atlantic Division and the Pacific Division.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><b>The updated criteria for schools selected to participate in the Atlantic division are as follows:<\/b><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There will be 10 schools that must compete in the Atlantic division. (Revised 2025 based upon enrollment)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The focus on school participation in events was minimized during the 2025 revision process.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A minimum of one school per AASCA member country will be included in the Atlantic Division. These schools have the right to petition to compete in the Atlantic Division following the Petition Protocol.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schools will remain in established divisions for two years when the process will be revisited during the General Directors\u2019 Meeting (2027)<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><b>Petitions<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AASCA Pacific schools are eligible to petition to participate in the Atlantic division on a tournament by tournament, category by category basis. Schools must formally state their intention to petition for each of the AASCA tournaments prior to <\/span><b>September 15<\/b><b>th <\/b><b>. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The request must be sent, emailed, to the President of the Athletic Directors, Wendy Acosta, ,\u00a0 as well as the general directors of the two host schools (Atlantic\/Pacific).<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The email should clearly state which team(s) the school wishes to move to participate in the Atlantic Division. Upon receiving the recommendations of the AASCA Athletic Directors, a final decision to accept the petition will be decided by a vote of\u00a0 AASCA General Directors.\u00a0 <\/span><b><i>This decision must be affirmed no later than one week prior to the closing of registration of the petitioned event.<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> If a member of the Board of the AASCA Athletic Directors is a petitioning school, one of the two vocals will be named to serve the decision making process.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Petition Protocol<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A petition will be accepted using the following criteria:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are more than eight teams in the Pacific Division tournament.<\/span><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Examples:\u00a0 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If a Pacific tournament has 10 registered teams in the male category and 10 registered teams in the female category, two petitions can be accepted from each category. If the event has 10 registered teams in the male category and nine registered teams in the female category, two male team petitions can be accepted, but only one female team petition can be accepted.<\/span><\/i><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the case where there are more schools who petitioned to move, than there are spaces available to move, the decision on which a school\u2019s petition will be accepted is based on the school\u2019s rank in the previous year\u2019s event. If the school did not participate in the previous year\u2019s event their rank will be one more than the number of participating teams from the previous year\u2019s event. In the case where schools have petitioned to move in both categories and there are more schools petitioned to move then there are spaces available, the school with the lower combined score, based on last year\u2019s rank, will have their petition approved.<\/span><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Example: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">School A Boys rank #12, Girls rank #4, combined 16. School B Boys rank #7, Girls rank #8, combined 15. School B\u2019s petition would be approved.<\/span><\/i><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the case where schools have petitioned to move in both categories, and there are more schools petitioned to move then there are spaces available, and the combined scores are tied, preference will be given to a school that is located in the same city of the hosting school followed by the same country of the hosting school.
