"The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others."

We are so pleased at the turnout for this event. At this time we are booked to capacity and will not be able to accept any more schools. To ensure a pleasant check-in, we are trying to have your rooms and keys available to you upon arrival at an AASCA check-in desk. Here is a list of the schools confirmed for this event. We urgently need the names of your students and who is to room with whom. We also need your arrival and departure information in order to arrange airport and city pickup and drop offs. If you have not already sent us this; please do so A.S.A.P. Thanks!

Extra Stuff…
Meals- A Continental breakfast is included in the hotel pkg. Since we will not be in the hotel or in Antigua for lunch on Friday and Saturday, CAS will provide lunches on site for a combined cost for both lunches of Q100 or $13 per person. This payment should be made upon arrival at the AASCA check-in desk in the hotel lobby. Please bring change if paying in dollars. Students are free to have dinner on Friday night wherever they wish. Antigua has hundreds of choices- please look in the Revue magazine provided for you in your welcome packet for options. (I’m sure the Guatemalan students will be able to tell you the hot and hip places to go). Dinner and dancing on Saturday night will be provided by us, CAS, after the closing ceremony.
AASCA Fee
Please bring the $400 AASCA school fee in cash to be paid at the AASCA check-in and welcome table upon arrival.
Flags
Please bring your country’s flag for the opening ceremony.
T-shirts
T-shirts will be available for Q75 or $10
Currency
The Quetzal is the official currency used in Guatemala- most shops and restaurants in Antigua do accept dollars. The exchange rate fluctuates daily but is around Q7.5 per $1.00. There are many ATM machines in Antigua so bank cards generally work for withdrawing cash.
Weather
We are in the rainy season so bring an umbrella. (It usually rains in the late afternoon and at night). It can get quite cool in the evenings.
Clothes
Since this is Leadership in Action, we will be moving around quite a bit so jeans and casual clothes are great. Sweaters may be needed at night. Bring old, grungy clothes for service projects as well as comfy shoes. Saturday night will be more formal (no tuxes (LOL) just no jeans or flip-flops etc.) Antigua is very much a walking town, small and compact with most everything within an 8 block radius. Antigua’s streets are old, very bumpy and uneven cobblestones. Wear high heels at your own risk- we highly recommend comfortable walking shoes.
*Bring a camera- Antigua is beautiful!
*Bring your bathing suit and sunscreen. The hotel pool is beautiful, and you WILL get sunburned if you aren’t careful- the sun is more intense than you think due to our high altitude.
We ask each school to please bring the following:
1 paint roller with handle
2 paint brushes. One 2 inch and One 4 inch
1 paint tray
