 The International School of Panama (ISP) once again is honored to be the host school of the up-coming AASCA Basketball Tournament, to be held October 8-12, 2008.  We look forward to seeing your athletes and your delegations at this enriching, sporting event.

We ask that you confirm participation by filling out and returning The Intention of Participation Form to ISP, no later than August 22, 2008.  Hotel information tournament regulations, etc. will be forwarded at a later date.

 B.  Important Information:

  1. The AASCA Basketball Tournament will be held at The International School of Panama,  From October 8 through October 12, 2008. 
  2. Travel Date on Wednesday, October 8, 2008.
  3. All games will be played at ISP athletic facilities and/ or at another location, which will be announced  NLT Friday, August 29 , 2008.
  4. The last day to confirm will be Friday, August 22, 2008.
  5. If we do not have sufficient AASCA Schools participating, we will request your agreement to invite local Panamanian Private Small Schools to complete a meaningful Tournament.
  6. Maximum players per team will be 10.
  7. Each team may have 2 game uniforms, properly numbered and school identified.
  8. Each team must bring 2 game basketball balls.
  9. There is a fee of $400.00  per team, required to cover part of the tournament expenses.
  10. We need to know your school colors.
  11.   All Teams will be LODGED in Hotels.  
  12. It is very important that your students/ athletes sign the AASCA Policy or Rules to comply follow their stay  in Panama for the Tournament.  (See attached letter.)
  13. Administrators and/or Coaches MUST and WILL enforce the CURFEW Regulation.  Please clarify with your students/ Athletes and their families.
  14. We will be holding rooms at the selected HOTEL by ISP for Coaches, Administrators, athletes and / or other guests …this information will be sent to each school by NLT Wednesday, August 27, 2008.
  15. The cost of the daily meals at our school (lunch) is approximately US.$5.00
  16. Departure tax from Panama is US.$20.00
  17. Please provide FLIGHT INFORMATION  no later than August 29, 2008.
  18. The AASCA Basketball Tournament will be governed by the FIBA
  19. Please submit a list of your team members, including complete names, grades, nationality, age, date of birth, and home telephone # or e-mail address NLT Friday, August 29, 2008.  You will be able to add or cancel names closer to the date of the tournament, if it is necessary.
  20. Be sure to check if any of your players will need SPECIAL VISA REQUIREMENT to visit Panama, Republic of Panama.
  21. Please bring COUNTRY FLAG, and /or SCHOOL BANNER and the NATIONAL ANTHEM on a CD.
  22. The Technical Coaches Meeting, to go over or review tournament rules and pertinent information will be held, on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at the Hotel chosen by The International School of Panama
  23. There will be a  sale of Tournament T-Shirts (around $10.00)
  24. Tentative Schedule of Events:

 

Wednesday, October 8, 2008.

  1. Arrival at Tocumen Airport in Panama, Republic of Panama, no later than 6:30 p.m. Bus transportation will be provided by the assigned Hotel and/ or any other RESERVED HOTEL…
  2. Coach’s clinic or meeting at assign Hotel at 7:30 p.m.
  3. There will be an ICEBREAKER EVENT FOR ALL ATHLETES sponsor by ISP.
  4. The following Tours will be coordinated during the day:

Miraflores Locks, The Canal Museum, Casco Antiguo,

Amador Causeway, Balboa Souvenirs and Ruins of Panama La Vieja

Shopping Tours Malls:  Los Pueblos Mall, Multi Plaza Mall, Multi Centro Mall

and Albrook Mall

Small Fees will be charged (approximately $10.00 p/athlete).

 

 Thursday, October 9, 2008.

 

-           8:00 a.m. Opening Ceremony at ISP Gymnasium

-           10:00 a.m. Matches all day

-           11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Lunch will be available at ISP Cafeteria

 

Friday, October 10, 2008.

 

-           8:00 a.m. Matches all day

-           11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Lunch will be available at ISP Cafeteria

 

Saturday, October 11, 2008.

 

-           8:00 a.m. All teams (male and female) will play their corresponding Match(es)

-           11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Lunch will be available at ISP Cafeteria

-           5:00 p.m. through 6:30 p.m.   Buffet/ Dinner ISP Facilities

-           7:00 p.m. Award Presentation and Closing Ceremony

 

Sunday, October 12, 2008.

 

-           6:00 a.m. Return Home

-           Tours will be organized for those teams that will be leaving at a later time.

-           Please coordinate TOURS in advanced with Mr. Thomas, so that the necessary arrangements can be made.
